Tommy’s not a bad man, he’s getting by, renting a room in his Aunt’s house, keeping his ex-wife and kids at bay, rolling from one get rich quick scheme to the next along with his pal Doc. Then one night he rescues Aimee, a damsel in distress, with a history of hard times herself, struggling through life as best she can. Their past won’t let go easily, but together there is glimmer of hope that they could make more of their lives. Conor McPherson’s new play mines the humanity to be found in the most unlikely of situations. You’ll laugh and you’ll cry in equal measure at another gem from the author of The Weir.
